A Brighter, More Efficient Facility
Purolator has strong sustainability goals and is committed to helping Canada meet its target of net-zero emissions by 2050. As such, they've taken great strides to make changes such as deploying all-electric step-vans and more recently, LED lighting retrofits within their facilities.
On one of their recent projects, our team alongside InLight Solutions and Alliance Marketing were commissioned to help Purolator retrofit the large warehouse & office facility located in Richmond, BC.
Prior to the LED retrofit, this facility was primarily using fluorescent high bay lighting throughout the warehouse, as well as fluorescent panels throughout the office spaces and common areas.
For this project, we replaced all of their existing fluorescent lighting with Eiko Premise LED 4000K high bays and strip lights at various wattage levels in the warehouse, and 4000K flat panels and downlights within the office spaces & common areas.
These LED fixtures drastically increased light levels from 130 to 500 LUX.
Check out the video below to see the difference:
The approximate energy savings from this conversion amount to 951,043 kWh/year and thousands of dollars in annual cost savings, while also eliminating maintenance costs for the next 5-10 years due to the impressive life span of these LED fixtures.
What does 951,043 kWh/year amount to in greenhouse gas equivalencies? Check out this infographic to see a comparison.
The customer also obtained an approximate $145,000 incentive from BC Hydro, which covered more than two-thirds of the project cost.
Aside from the immediate energy and cost savings, this LED retrofit immensely benefits staff in that it has helped to reduce eye strain & headaches, which is ideal in an environment where precision and and attention to detail are key.
Overall the installation went incredibly smooth and Purolator was very happy with the chosen fixtures and the work that was completed.
Both InLight Solutions and Alliance Marketing were incredible partners throughout this project. InLight Solutions did the initial Energy Analysis to help Purolator with securing the incentive from BC Hydro, at which point they reached out to our team and Alliance Marketing to conduct the site audit & lighting count.
Once the rebate was approved, our team ordered the materials, coordinated the installation with Teklar Electrical & Property Services, and worked to complete the job in a timely manner.
